Song of Life

[Jonathan wrote this in 2020 in preparation for this time]

Creating and writing this blog has been really fun, but today I am writing my last blog post, hopefully some time before it is needed, though I am ready any time.

Shortly after I started writing poetry I wrote my poem, ‘Song of Voice’, which has always been the poem which best describes me and my journey of communication.  After this I wrote ‘Song of Silence’ to describe my passionate belief that all children deserve a voice of their own (though I think subsequently my reverse poem, PMLD, does this better).

Today I present you with the last of my three songs: Song of Life.  Never being sure how long I’ve had left, I originally wrote this in 2016, shortly after my other song poems, and I have now updated it during lockdown 2020.

When you read this I will be in heaven enjoying my new body and all the freedom that comes with it, but most of all I can’t wait to be with Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith.

  2. To Jonathan’s family

I am in tears reading of Jonathan’s death. His communications over the years have been inspiring. I was so sad that I didn’t meet him when he came to see the Life of Christ at Wintershall. I bought his book for both Charlotte de Klee, the producer and for her mother Ann Hutley after they had met Jonathan.

I used his passage in his book about Jesus’s garden in a Bereavement service and I quote it a lot to people who are grieving for their loved ones.

I know Jonathan is happy beyond belief but I do ache for you who have loved him since his birth.

Eternal rest give unto Jonathan O Lord, let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.

    With love and gratitude.

  4. I am so deeply saddened to hear of Jonathan’s death. He was a truly inspirational young man whose voice touched many lives, including my own. I always welcomed an email from Jonathan – his words and insights never failed to inspire me and expand my own faith, and I will miss hearing from him with his latest thoughts on life. How fitting and poignant it was to hear the news of his death in his own voice. May God comfort and bless his family and friends in the weeks and months ahead.

    With love and deepest sympathy

  5. I saw the news elsewhere and was very moved. I felt sad that he is no longer on earth,…but also was moved thinking about Jonathan’s experience with Jesus beyond this earthly life and also the family’s unimaginably deep loss.

Jonathan himself and you his family have been SO inspirational, including the way Mum pushed through to help unlock all that you knew was there inside. I have loved reading his posts and poems and watching the videos (and obviously his book). What a massive legacy both for others facing similar challenges and to all of us from his faith and joy and determination to live life to its fullest whatever the obstacles. And all the effort that he poured into communicating, wow.

God bless and comfort you all now and in the days ahead.

  7. Knowing that Jonathan is now in Jesus’ garden, fully enjoying abundant resurrection life, I can only rejoice for him, though I am sad for the hole he leaves in the lives of so many on earth, especially his amazing family.

I was honoured to meet Jonathan and mum at the writers’ jubilee conference and his book – Eye Can Write – still impacts me.

    Blessings to your family.
